Salvation: It's Why We're Christians

If I Have No Desire to Share the Gospel, Then Everything I Do is in Vain

My Dear Readers and Friends,

The whole purpose of the Christian life is to share the Gospel, the Good News; to go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.  Mark 16:15  Therefore, it is incumbant upon me, as a Christian, to ensure that every set of eyes that reaches this blog site is given the opportunity to know the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It's my duty to share it with you, it is not my duty convince you.  Though I do hope my writings and my life helps to convince you.  Regardless if they do or not, salvation is of Christ, not of me, so nothing I can do can "get you saved".  But if God be willing (and I believe He will be), He will bless my efforts and will call you to Him for salvation.  You just need to answer the call.

With that in mind, I have a precious gift to share with you.  It is the only gift that you can have for all eternity and, of course, that gift is the Gospel.  After all, my friends, you will not live forever and when you do meet your end, you will find yourself in only one of two places.

Please know that Hell is a real place, as real as the Grand Canyon or Grand Central Station. But the good news is, the best news of all is, Heaven is a real place too!

Do you know for sure that when you die Heaven will be your eternal home?

I'm here to tell you that you can absolutely, for sure, know your eternal destination. Would you like to know how?

The way to get to Heaven is very simple, you can NOT get there by your own works (otherwise, you are saying that Christ's works weren't powerful enough to save you 2 Timothy 3:5, Ephesians 2:9), but instead only by having faith in Christ's work on the cross. Nothing we can do in our delicate, feeble, and wretched bodies can ever compare to what Christ did for us!  Nor does anything we do have power outside of Christ giving us the power through Him.

But there are some things you must understand in order to be able to appreciate and want to accept God's gift.

  • First, you must realize that God loves you. (How hard is that!?)

    • John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  • Second, you must realize that everyone, including you, is a sinner who has no hope for redemption without Christ. (Did your parents have to teach you to be naughty or to be good?)

    • Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

  • Third, you must realize that sin is a debt to God and has a price that must be paid.

    • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • Fourth, you must realize that Jesus Christ died to pay that debt for you. (You can't, you really can't, do enough to pay the high price for sin, so Jesus came to do it for you and He paid the price IN FULL! Praise God!)

    • Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  • Finally, you must repent of (choose to turn away from) your sin and ask Jesus Christ (100% man and 100% God...if He was not  both man AND God, His blood would not be worthy to save your soul) to forgive you for your sins so that you may receive eternal life.

    • Romans 10:9,13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead {this is where He defeated death and proved once and for all His amazing power over everything, even death}, thou shalt be saved...For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you have questions about baptism and how it relates to salvation, please visit this study on baptism.

That's it! It doesn't get any simpler than that. You can only earn Hell (and you have earned it), you can't earn Heaven, that's part of what makes it so great!  Heaven is a free gift that you must accept from Jesus Christ.  So, what's stopping you? Ask God to soften your heart and to reveal this truth to you so you can place your life in Jesus' hands today and know for sure that from this moment on you will have a home in Heaven!

Once you've realized you're a sinner, once you've realized that you can't atone for your sin, once you've realized that Christ rose from the dead, defeating death, so you can have eternal life with him in Heaven, and once you've placed your faith on Him alone for your salvation, then it's time to start growing as a Christian and reading His Word, the Holy Bible, daily.  (I recommend the King James Version, even though it's "hard", but with the Holy Spirit now residing in you, He will reveal all that's contained in God's Holy Scriptures in time, upon His own will.  Just read prayerfully.) It's also time to work on fulfilling the command to "pray without ceasing", (1 Thessalonians 5:17) which simply means to direct your thoughts and desires more and more upon God and spend ample time with Him in prayer daily.  The walk of a Christian is a relationship with Christ, and no relationship is healthy without proper communication.  Prayer is how we talk to God, and God's Word is how He talks to us.  Take advantage of these tools to build a strong relationship with your Creator!

If you have made it to my site and you are already washed in the blood of Christ, saved by Grace through faith alone, and on your way to Heaven, then praise God!  Feel free to send me any prayer requests you may have and please use this as a reminder to get to work winning souls to Christ (if you're not already), time's short! (You can share this page with others as a way to share the Gospel.)

May God bless and keep you dear reader, and may this Gospel reach far and wide and have the annointing of the Holy Spirit on it so many souls can be saved from an awful fate of Hell and to an amazing inheritance of Heaven.
