How I Came to Know, with Absolute Certainty, that Christianity is the Absolute Truth and the Only Pa

For my entire adult life I rejected Christianity. And for a good portion of my adult life, I rejected God all together. I won't go into detail here what led me to God, but I will explain to anyone who cares to listen what it was that made my heart feel secure in the knowledge that Jesus Christ is the only true God and, without him, we have no hope of eternal life beyond the grave. This is not to say we will not have an eternity beyond the grave, we will have an eternity, but we will not have eternal life without Jesus, instead we'll have an eternal death. And oh, what a terrible eternity it will be in death. Think of the worst hell you've ever experienced here on earth, or the worst hell you can imagine experiencing, and multiply that by an eternity and that's how horrible living without God will be. I don't wish this for anyone, not even for those I know who I don't particularly care about. So I hope that what I write here will open someone's eyes to the sin they might be living in and will help them to take a step away from that sin and towards our redeemer, Jesus Christ.

The world tells us that the Bible and all that's contained inside is simply a mythology book; a book of fiction or parables written to help us to live a good life. The world is wrong, dead wrong. The Bible has been proven over and over again.

For example:

Science in general: http://www.bibletoday.com/archive/proof_text.htm

Archeology: http://www.dawnbible.com/booklets/archeology.htm

Palentology, Astronomy, Meterology, Biology, Hydrology, Geology, Physics: http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/science.shtml

I have yet to find one other world religion whose holy scripts are as accurate to real, observable science, as is Christianity's. ("The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." Psalms 19:1) If this wasn't enough to convince me, nothing was. I tend to be very reason-minded; if something doesn't seem reasonable, then I can't believe it. Surely something like a man rising from the dead and causing blind people to see isn't reasonable. But then again, to me, being able to type some words into a plastic box and hitting a little plastic button so that the entire world can see what I've written doesn't seem reasonable to me either. Yet, I'm doing it right now. Just because I don't understand how something works doesn't mean it can't happen. God is God and well, if he made us, I'm sure he's capable of doing a whole heck of a lot of things I can't wrap my brain around.

Here's one that always got me even when I was a non-believer. I'm made up of mostly the same material that plants and trees are made up of, or even rocks and dirt. And even if I'm not made up of mostly the same materials, I am only made up of materials. Just like my computer, or my kitchen table. But what is it that makes me ALIVE? Why is it that the flagellum in each of my tiny cells is made up of over 200 moveable parts (it's a flipping MACHINE!) and each and every one of those parts must be working properly in order for every single one of my cells to operate properly? What makes those parts and what makes them work properly? What makes them work at all? After all, they're only made of materials aren't they? And how does the equivalent of a car engine in microscopic form just magically come together and then work? My car engine didn't come together by itself...it was designed. And it doesn't work by itself, it must have a fuel source and...ME to make it work. So what makes my cells work? You might say "chemicals". Ok, so what is it that makes those chemicals show up to make the cells work? Where do the chemicals come from and what makes the thing that makes the chemicals? How is it that the chemical makers know what chemicals to make and how much and how often? You see, none of that happens by chance. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't. No amount of nothing could sit for an eternity and just spontaneously, for no reason at all, start to become something. It's just unreasonable to think so and remember, I'm a person of reason. This is the sort of thinking that led me to the conclusion that there had to be a designer...a God.

But that didn't prove Christianity. Well, I've provided some fascinating sites for you above that will show you how science and the Bible go hand in hand. That there is no other belief system out there that matches with the observable sciences we know better than the Bible does. But there's one last thing that really got me thinking that sealed the deal for me.

Christ's resurrection and the growth of Christianity after His resurrection. Now admittingly, this (the resurrection) was the hardest thing for me to accept because, well, it's just so unreasonable. How on earth can a man who has been dead three days come back to life? (I wasn't convinced at this point that Christ was really God, though I believed he did exist.) But here's the thing. Christians in the first century went through different periods where they were terribly persecuted. Yet Christians, by the hundreds and thousands were converting to Christianity in spite of the danger it brought into their lives. How did this happen? Well, there are a couple of different theories of course, but the theory that seems to have had the largest impact is this: there were over 500 witnesses to Christ's resurrection (this is not theory, but fact). After Christ was crucified, the movement should have ended (as did many other Jewish movements of the time when the leader died). The followers of Christ would have been dejected and despondent knowing that the person they put all their faith in as their Messiah had been killed. Jesus was supposed to save the world and become the King of the Jews, yet he was dead on the cross. And his death meant that a lot of the followers were now in trouble. In fact, only one of Jesus' disciples were present at His crucifixion...the rest fled in fear of their own arrest. But Jesus didn't stay dead! He arose out of the grave three days later and, for a period of time, was seen by the disciples and over 500 other people. Now that's something to get a movement going! If you saw a man, alive, who you thought was dead just a short while after his supposed death, wouldn't that convince you that something big is going on? Would you risk your very life to spread the word that the person who claimed to be the Messiah truly was the Messiah? And on the flip side, had you never seen the resurrected man or met anyone else who had seen him, would you risk your very life, would you die for a cause that you didn't know for sure to be true?

The truth is, Christianity spread because Jesus was who He said He was. Christianity flourishes today because He is still who He says He is. His word will never die: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matt. 24:35)

You see, when I was a Pagan and following "Goddess", there was no book that could be proven to ensure me that Goddess was real and true. There was only folklore with no scientific truths to back any of it up. And moreso, the Goddess didn't devote her existence to loving me, she wanted me to devote my existence to her. But Jesus Christ said Himself, "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Matt. 20:28). WOW! Now THAT'S different! Jesus Christ wants to serve me? I can't think of a single other God or Goddess whose sole purpose and desire is to serve mankind. And what's better yet, He died for me so that I can have eternal life with the Father...all I have to do is accept Him and acknowledge His sacrifice and resurrection. It's that simple! I don't have to do anything else! He makes it that simple so that none of us will have to perish. What an amazing God He is and how much I adore Him!

God doesn't want for any of us to live in eternity without God but He also doesn't wish to push Himself on any of us. We must willingly come to Him and accept Him if we want an eternity in His presence. If we didn't come to Him willingly then Heaven with God would not be Heaven, it would be the opposite of what we wished for on earth and God only wants to give us what we wish for.

So do you wish to live in eternity with or without God? He will give you what you want but I guarantee that you really do not want eternity without God. The road to Heaven is so simple, so very simple. Won't you accept Him today? No matter what sin you're living in, no matter what you've done in the past, He loves you and will forgive your every sin. Jesus paid the price for your sins, it can all be forgotten.
